Overview
Confined Space is a 1-day course for people who work in or around confined spaces. It follows the BC OHS Regulation. You learn to identify a confined space and an excluded space, to recognize atmospheric and physical hazards, and to control them with permits, testing, ventilation and lockout. You learn how to respond to an incident, including the role of the standby person and rescue. You set up and bump test a gas monitor and work through entry permits. Certification takes an exam and a practical evaluation.

What's covered
Hands-on
Set up a gas monitor in fresh air, zero calibrate it, and bump test it with calibration gas, following the steps in the manual.
Work through scenarios and decide whether a confined space entry permit is required for each.
Certification
The 3-year expiry is not a regulatory requirement (no matter what anyone else tells you). This is an industry best practice.
