Overview
Telehandler Forklift (Class 7) is a 1-day course for telehandler operators. You learn the regulations and standards that apply, the parts and classifications of a telehandler, hazard designations, the data plate, the load chart and stability. You learn how to start up, handle and place loads, travel, use ramps and grades, work around pedestrians, and shut down and refuel or recharge safely. You inspect your machine and the work area, work out equivalent loads from the load chart, and complete a practical operator evaluation. Certification follows successful completion of the training.

What's covered
Hands-on
A self-audit of the forklift environment, using the checklist in the manual.
Visual checks of the telehandler on the operator’s daily checklist, including the operator’s manual and the load chart.
The operational checks on the same checklist: power up, power disconnect, electrical safety devices, steering and steering modes, brakes and travel controls, parking brake, hydraulic controls, attachments, limit switches and battery charge.
A practical evaluation of 31 competencies in four categories: startup, travel, load engagement and disengagement, and shutdown. The evaluator marks each safe, unsafe or not applicable.
Use the load chart to decide whether a load can be lifted, given its weight, load centre, equivalent load, distance and height.
